What is a professional association?
A professional association is
“…a group of people in a learned occupation who are
entrusted with maintaining control or oversight of the legitimate practice of the
occupation.” Basically, it is a body of persons engaged in the same profession, formed to maintain
standards, and represent the profession in discussions with other organizations.
There are professional associations for just about every profession on an international
and national level.
