When is the PMU Library/LRC open?

The PMU Learning Resource Center (LRC) libraries are open Sunday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Please note that library hours are subject to change during registration periods, final examinations, university breaks, or unforeseen emergencies. Any changes to operating hours will be announced by the LRC.

Is the PMU Library/LRC open on weekends?

Currently, the LRC libraries are closed on Friday and Saturday.

How can I access e-resources off campus?

To access PMU's electronic resources from off campus:
  1. Go to the PMU website.
  2. Select Sign In and choose Library.
  3. Enter your PMU User ID and Password when prompted.
  4. Use the same credentials you use to access your PMU webmail.
Off-campus access to the Library's electronic resources is available to PMU faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students.

How do I borrow books?

You can borrow books using the self-checkout machine available in the LRC.
Alternatively, you may take the books to the Circulation Desk, where LRC staff can check them out for you.
You must have your valid PMU ID card with you to borrow library materials.

How can I return books?

You can return books at the Circulation Desk.
Please return all borrowed materials by their due date to avoid overdue fines or borrowing restrictions.

I received an overdue notice. What should I do?

If you receive an overdue notice, please return the overdue materials as soon as possible.
Eligible materials may be renewed online, by phone, or in person.
You can also renew eligible materials through the PMU Library Catalog by logging in with your PMU User ID and Password.
If you need assistance, please contact or visit the Circulation Desk.

What can I do if a book I need is already checked out?

If a required book is currently checked out, you may place a hold through the PMU Library Catalog.
You can also manage your requests and borrowed materials through My Account in the Library Catalog.

How can I request materials that are not available in the PMU Library?

If the required article, book chapter, or other resource is not available in the PMU Library collection, you may request it through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service.

How can I get help with my research?

The LRC provides research consultation and support to help students with their research needs.
Librarians can assist with developing search strategies, locating print and electronic resources, and using library research services.

Is research training available?

Yes. The LRC provides individual and group training sessions on library resources, electronic databases, research skills, and other research tools.
Students, faculty, and staff may contact an LRC librarian to arrange a training session. The LRC also provides training on the use of the Library Catalog, electronic resources, and reference resources.

Can the LRC help me with citations and referencing?

Yes. LRC librarians can provide guidance on citation and referencing, including commonly used citation styles such as APA and AMA.

How can I find books and other library resources?

You can search for books and other available library materials through the PMU Library Catalog.

The catalog allows you to search the Library's print collection and check item availability and location.

What should I do if I cannot find a book on the shelf?

First, check the item's availability and location in the Library Catalog.
If the catalog shows that the item is available but you cannot locate it, please contact the Circulation or Reference Desk.
LRC staff will assist you in locating the item.

Can I use the LRC study rooms?

Yes. Study rooms are available subject to availability and LRC policies.
Please follow the study-room rules and leave the room clean and ready for the next user.

Can I bring food and drinks into the LRC?

Eating is not permitted inside the LRC.
Please help us maintain a clean, quiet, and comfortable environment for all library users.

What should I do if I have problems accessing an electronic resource?

If you are unable to access an e-book, e-journal, database, or other electronic resource, please submit your question or report the access problem through LibAnswers:

When reporting the problem, please provide as much information as possible, such as:
  • The name of the database or electronic resource
  • The title of the article, book, or journal
  • The steps you followed
  • The error message, if any
  • A screenshot of the problem, if possible
