Open House

PMU Student Affairs hosted its ‘Annual Open House’ on May 9th opening its doors to external guests from the local community. Numerous activities and presentations from all colleges, clubs, societies, and the student council filled the day with fun, excitement and academic challenges. PMU colleges wowed the guests as they showcased students’ achievements and their innovative projects in various corners of the university. The Media Club exhibited nice artistic displays whilst the Student Council organized many fun activities including sport competitions with valuable prizes given to winners.

One of the highlights of the ‘Open House’ was the speech contest providing seven local and international schools with the opportunity to experience life on campus and the challenges of a university level contest. The schools were divided into two groups: Group A consisted of (KFUPM, Dhahran, Al Saad, Al Hussan) and Group B (Indian International School, ISG Dhahran, Manarat AlSharqiyah). The speech contest program began with the welcoming words of the Director of Student Affairs, Mr. Omar J. Elmoussa addressing all the schools, students, deans, faculty, and staff who attended and supported this wonderful event. The Deans or representatives of each college gave a 10-minute presentation concerning their programs and careers within this field. The ‘Global Peace’ theme of this years' speech seemed to ignite real passion within all the contestants, showcasing great oral communication strengths and abilities. Each contestant gave a 5 to 7 minute presentation. The judges were Dr. Haydar Sadiq (Chairman), Dr. Ali Ghazo (Judge), and Lecturer Ahmad Nuriddin (Judge). The winner for Group A was Dhahran (Noureddine Tohma) and the winner for Group B was a tie between Indian International School (Linson Michael Joseph) and ISG Dhahran (Laith Mukdad). The winners were given IPad Prizes for all their efforts. The feedback from the high school students was that “PMU has been very welcoming and helpful and everything was great.”

Overall the university would like to thank all our external guests for attending, and all our faculty, staff and student organizations for their contributions and support.
