MSME

The MSME program is designed for professionals interested in developing and acquiring knowledge beyond their bachelor degree in order to improve their career prospects. The program is offered under the College of Engineering at PMU.
The proposed program is available with thesis or non-thesis options. The thesis option and non-thesis program requires a minimum of 30 credit hours beyond the bachelor’s degree, including 12 credit hours of required courses. Two tracks are available: Thermo-fluids track and Mechanical System track.


Admissions to the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) Program

The Saudi industry demands for deep technical expertise in mechanical engineering will continue to grow steadily and rapidly for many years to come. The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) at PMU is aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030 by producing highly skilled mechanical engineers who will take part in enriching the national economy by fulfilling critical high tech market needs and by creating economic opportunities for the Saudi entrepreneur, the small and medium Saudi enterprises, as well as the Saudi large corporations. The MSME program is available with thesis and non-thesis options. Each option requires a minimum of 30 credit hours, including 12 credit hours of required courses, which can be completed in two years. The MSME is offered in Two tracks: Thermofluids track and Mechanical Systems track.


Admission Criteria


Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering* from a recognized university
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 or equivalent (Very Good) in Bachelor’s Degree
*Students with Bachelor of Science degrees in closely related disciplines to Mechanical Engineering can apply upon conditions specified by the College of Engineering.

English Language Proficiency Test:

  • A valid IELTS certificate (Academic version) with minimum scores of 6.0 overall and 5.5 in each skill or equivalent TOEFL iBT.

Supporting Documents:

  • Two reference letters from academics/professionals who can provide appropriate references

Personal Interview:

  • Candidates will be personally interviewed by committee of the program administrators and faculty

  1. Complete online application
  2. Submit documents before due date
    • Two recent passport-size photographs
    • Copy of Graduation’s Certificate certified by the Saudi Cultural Mission and Saudi Embassy
    • Copy of Transcript
    • Copy of National ID
    • Copy of passport
    • Two reference letters from academics/professionals who can provide appropriate references
  3. Pay a non-refundable application fee of SAR 660 (excl. VAT) upon submission of documents
  4. Submit original IELTS (Academic version) certificate with minimum scores of 6.0 overall and 5.5 in each skill or equivalent TOEFL iBT.
  5. Other requirements might be requested by the admissions office.

Admission Process

  • After receiving and reviewing the above requirements, the admissions office will set an appointment for an interview
  • The final decision will be communicated through the Admissions office
  • PMU will support in issuing student visa.
