Welcome to the Department of Interior Design at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University. The Interior Design Program recognizes the value of cultural diversity as well as Islamic traditions and advancement of Saudi cultural and social values. The program also acknowledges the importance of historic reference, technology and creativity related to the profession of interior design. The department and faculty are committed to excellence in educating future leaders and professionals that are equipped with the most current knowledge and abilities. Graduates of the Interior Design program will become future leaders and professionals who will contribute to sustainable community and economic development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the surrounding Gulf region through designing interior environments that demonstrate an awareness of the health, safety and welfare of the public. The Interior Design Program is committed to providing excellence in education to female students through awarding a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Interior Design. The Interior Design curriculum follows American Interior Design curriculums developed according to the requirements of the international Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) organization. Although the degree is designed for graduates to enter the practice of Interior Design in Saudi Arabia, alumna from this program are also well prepared to further their studies in graduate schools within Saudi Arabia and abroad. The faculties of the interior Design Department are committed to the educational success of the students who enter the program. Each faculty member offers her own expertise in the areas of theoretical and technical knowledge, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, teamwork, leadership and practical experience. Since all courses are taught in English, each faculty member is proficient in the English language. Faculty research includes environments for children, color perception, teaching pedagogy, cultural understandings of privacy, climatic and social-cultural norms vs. Western models, sustainable practices, and analysis of cultural and social control using the built environment.
