An-aerobic Treatment Unit Design for Industrial Purposes
Project Overview
Wastewater is a byproduct of domestic, industrial, commercial or agricultural activities. It contains a large number of chemical and biological pollutants. The Pulp and paper industry is the 3rd largest industrial wastewater producer in the kingdom. This design project would undertake the anaerobic treatment unit design for Arab Paper Manufacturing Company which includes the background study of anaerobic units and of all its components. The overall aims of this study are to design the anaerobic treatment unit d for Pulp and paper (P and P) wastewater generated from different manufacturing processes. The design also considered assessing the COD removal efficiency, biomass calculation, as well as physical and process design of the proposed anaerobic tank.
This design project is in the 2nd industrial city area which is located in Dammam city. The design was performed using the Monod equation, controlling F/m ratios and many more. All necessary data were collected from WARAQ Company and Veolia solutions. In this project, AutoCAD software was used to draw the complete system. The constraints for this project were also carefully verified and project limitations were identified. The results indicated with the inclusion of this anaerobic digester design. The purpose was to enhance the quality and quantity of reuse water generated from the plants. In this project, water reuse efficiency can be increased by up to 70% from their current stage at 20%, with an effective cost ranging from 35-45 Million SAR.
