The International Conference on Contemporary Challenges and the Future of Law (CCFL2027): Artificial Intelligence, Technology, and Cybersecurity facilitates the exchange of advanced legal scholarship, interdisciplinary insight, and global collaboration to address the transformative impact of emerging technologies on law, governance, and society.
PMU proudly organizes the Contemporary Challenges and the Future of Law Conference (CCFL2027) to be held at the PMU campus in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia on February 2–3, 2027, focusing on legal frameworks for Artificial Intelligence, Technology, and Cybersecurity.
CCFL2027 provides a dynamic platform for policymakers, legal scholars, practicing lawyers, judges, researchers, industry experts, university professors, and students to engage in critical dialogue on the evolving role of law in regulating artificial intelligence, technological innovation, and cybersecurity challenges.
From regulatory frameworks for artificial intelligence to data protection, cyber risk governance, and technology-driven legal systems, the conference seeks to generate actionable outcomes, including policy recommendations, academic collaborations, and forward-looking research agendas that respond to rapid technological disruption.

Bringing together diverse perspectives from academia, practice, policy, and industry, the conference will explore how law can respond proactively to technological disruption, strengthen digital governance, and safeguard fundamental rights, including privacy, equality, and access to justice.
Governance and Regulatory Frameworks for Emerging Technologies
Examining national, regional, and international regulatory systems governing artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. This theme focuses on risk-based regulatory models, legislative design, standard-setting, and the role of international cooperation in shaping coherent legal responses to technological development.
Cybersecurity Governance, Compliance, and Risk Management
Addressing legal and institutional approaches to cybersecurity, including compliance frameworks, risk mitigation strategies, and critical infrastructure protection. This theme explores governance mechanisms, regulatory enforcement, and the development of harmonised cybersecurity responses across jurisdictions.
Data Protection, Privacy, and Cross-Border Data Flows
Analysing legal challenges related to data protection, privacy rights, and international data transfers in an increasingly digitalised environment. This includes regulatory compliance, surveillance concerns, and evolving global data protection regimes.
AI, Digital Security, and Cybercrime
Exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in protecting digital systems and sensitive data. This theme examines vulnerabilities in AI-driven systems, threats of cybercrime, and legal responses to emerging risks in automated and data-driven environments.
AI, Technology, and Judicial Processes
Critically examining the integration of AI and digital technologies within judicial systems, including predictive justice, court technologies, and legal automation. The theme addresses implications for judicial independence, fairness, transparency, and liability and accountability in automated decision-making.

Event Structure and Format
A two-day program bringing together academics, practitioners, and policymakers
The conference will be held over two days, comprising an opening ceremony featuring university leadership and an opening address, followed by keynote sessions delivered by leading experts, bringing together academics, practitioners, and policymakers. Over two days, workshops, breakout sessions, and discussions will focus on practical legal challenges and offer networking and collaboration opportunities. The end of the second day will feature a closing ceremony summarising key outcomes and future directions regarding collaboration and publication.
