CAEID brings together an interdisciplinary team of faculty, postdoctoral researchers, analysts, and affiliated experts to conduct applied research and selected consultancy at the interface of engineering, economics, and policy. Our work is designed to be useful for decision-makers, supporting practical choices about technology options, investment timing, implementation sequencing, and performance measurement.
A Defining Feature of CAEID
A defining feature of CAEID is that we bridge:
- Engineering and systems analysis: How technologies and infrastructure work in practice.
- Techno-economic and sustainability assessment: What solutions cost, what trade-offs they create, and how they scale.
- Policy and implementation: How solutions can be deployed credibly under real-world constraints.
CAEID is structured around multi-year flagship programs that deliver outputs beyond academic publications. These include decision-grade models, pathway reports, policy briefs, industry-oriented technical reports, pilot concepts, and practical tools. The Center’s team-based delivery model combines PMU faculty leadership with a dedicated applied research workforce, ensuring both rigorous analysis and reliable delivery.
CAEID also supports PMU’s broader research excellence agenda by strengthening institutional research capacity. In particular, the Center contributes to building a more PMU-led research model by prioritizing problem-driven research origination, leadership authorship, and impact-oriented outputs that build long-term credibility with industry and government stakeholders.
