The Chess Club at PMU participated at the tournament organized in Al Khobar by the Saudi Association of Chess.
The team composed by 4 students and 3 Faculty earned respect from high ranked local and international players participating in the tournament for their excellent skills and got a great experience to improve their playing talents.
As a result, English Instructor Robert Lowman came first among the PMU team, followed by student Umar Malik second and Sakher Al Shujaa third.
The day before that, the PMU Chess Club has supported the Social Association “Sanad”, which supports children with Cancer. Our Chess Club invited children from all walks of life in the community, to animate and enrich their young lives by both learning something new and educationally beneficial, and enjoying participating in a social activity in Dammam.
Chess club members taught children how to play chess, and organized chess games during a full day event, packed with learning opportunities.
The event’s profits will be used entirely to support this noble cause, which is improving the lives of young Cancer sufferers, and providing for their medical needs.
The contribution which PMU students made was much appreciated by the visitors, and organizers as well.
